Pet Owners Spending More On Food

Pets
Pet Owners Spending More On FoodAmericans spent over $55 billion on their pets last year (2013) and the biggest category by far was food. This is not because pets are eating more. It is because pet owners are moving away from cheap, low quality brands in favor natural products with better ingredients and higher quality products. A lot of the growth is coming from people who are embracing healthy lifestyles for themselves. They want their pets to grow up healthy, and live long lives and without potential issues caused by malnutrition due to poor diets. Other interesting trends in the pet industry include growth in boarding, grooming, pet sitting and walking, and training. Additionally, people are looking more to hands on care for their pets which is impacting OTC medications and remedies and other wellness products.
