Will Your Dog Products Work On My Cat & Vice Versa?

Good question…we know a lot of our beloved customers have both dogs and cats. Well the answer is, it depends. EcoEars for Dogs for example cannot be used on cats, but EcoEars for Cats may be used on dogs. For dogs with extremely sensitive ears, you may want to order EcoEars for Cats. But for best results, use our Dog formula on your dog. Our other products may be specified for use on both dogs and cats, dogs only, or cats only, depending on the specific product. Please see the individual Product Page for information on whether the product can be used on dogs, cats, or both. We do not recommend usage of Vet Organics products on humans or other animals.

How Much Product Do I Need?

For EcoEars and EcoMange products, one 8oz bottle will last long enough for 1-2 treatment cycles for all but the largest dogs or cats. Our pet health supplements are available in 4oz and 8oz bags that may last for several months of daily use depending on the size of your pet. Specific usage instructions vary with each product. Please see the individual Product Page for dosage questions about any particular product you have inquiries about.

My Credit Card Was Declined! What Should I Do?

We use credit card fraud detection tools to help prevent identity theft. However, this also has the unfortunate side effect of denying legitimate transactions. To prevent being flagged by our fraud filters, please follow the following guidelines:

  • Make sure your credit card details are entered correctly.
  • Your billing address must match the billing address with your credit card issuer.
My Transaction Was Declined But Why Do I See Charges On My Credit Card?

The charges you see on your credit card are holds that are automatically placed by your credit card. These holds should say “pending” on your credit card and will be removed after 72 hours. Unfortunately, we cannot change this as it is part of your credit card automated system. Each declined transaction will result in one additional hold placed on your credit card.

EcoEars for Dogs
Where Can I Buy EcoEars?

You can buy EcoEars safely and securely here on our website or by phone, as well as on Amazon.com (those who have Amazon Prime may prefer to buy there) and Walmart.com. If you’d like to ask your family vet or groomer to carry our products, please refer them to our Wholesale Inquiries page.

Can I Use EcoEars Without Seeing A Veterinarian First?

It is always best to see your vet to make sure to make sure you have the correct diagnosis before beginning any type of treatment on your pet. Once you know your dog has an ear infection (bad smell, discharge, etc.) you can safely use EcoEars to clear the problem and eliminate the symptoms.

Does EcoEars Require A Prescription?

EcoEars is a natural ear cleaner, not a medicine – so it does not require a prescription. Our formula includes all-natural extracts selected for their antimicrobial and disinfecting properties which are designed to “dis-infect” your pet’s ears.

(NOTE: Use of our products or any consumer product is not a substitute for proper veterinary care.)

Is EcoEars A Medication/Medicine?

EcoEars is not a medication. It is a natural disinfecting cleaner that has strong antimicrobial properties, and therefore no prescription is necessary.

How Does EcoEars Work To Clear Infections If It Is Not A Medication?

EcoEars is made with a blend of all-natural ingredients that were carefully selected for their natural antibiotic, antimicrobial, and other healing properties. Long before modern medicine existed, people around the world have known that various plants and other natural compounds possess natural healing qualities. We have worked with a dedicated chemist to formulate a product that combines some of these natural ingredients into a multi-faceted product that works to treat both the symptoms and the underlying cause of a wide variety of different types of ear infections. Nature at work!

How Long Does The 8-oz Bottle Last?

The answer depends on the size of your pet and how many ears you are looking to treat. With that said, generally, one bottle will last long enough for one to two recommended treatment cycles (in one ear) for all but the largest dogs (should be enough to treat one ear in a medium-sized dog more than once as you would probably be using half the bottle for each regimen). If your pup is less than 125 pounds and you are treating one ear, one bottle *should* be enough; however, if you're treating both ears on a dog of that size (and possibly additional dogs), a second bottle may be a good idea. You can always start with one bottle and if you see you're running out and you're not done with the treatment, you can always order another bottle. Additionally, any leftovers can be used as part of well-pet grooming to keep the ears healthy.

How Often Should EcoEars Be Used?

If you’re using this product to treat symptoms of an existing infection, we recommend treating the infected ear(s) 2 times a day for a minimum of 10-15 days. It is extremely important that you continue treatment without interruption and finish the 2 times a day for a minimum of 10 days. If the infection is a recurring or severe one, we recommend continuing the treatment for 15-20 days for best results.

There is no need to repeat treatment after the 10-15 day recommended cycle; however, some people prefer to treat once per week for “maintenance.” Although maintenance is not necessary, the ingredients used are all natural and gentle and will not harm your pet should you perform an extended course or maintenance.

How often to use EcoEars for maintenance purposes depends on your dog. Some pet owners like to start with once per week and then adjust as necessary, depending on your dog’s needs. Hotter summer months and other health issues may contribute to how often you may need to use it. Some pet parents use EcoEars just monthly to maintain healthy and clean ears.

(NOTE: If condition persists or worsens, please consult your veterinarian.)

Can I Use EcoEars As A Preventive Cleaner? Or Should I Only Use If Infection Is Present?

Yes – you can use EcoEars as a preventative cleaner! Many dog owners love using EcoEars to keep their dog’s ears healthy and gunk free. You don’t have to wait for an infection to occur to use EcoEars. We hear from many dog owners who report that their pups learn to enjoy their regular ear treatment and massage. Regular use keeps the pH of your dog’s ears in balance and also dries chronically moist and humid ears to fight against infection.

After The Initial Recommended Treatment Cycle, How Often Can I EcoEars? Can I Use It Weekly For Maintenance?

EcoEars can be used safely for extended periods of time if necessary. Daily usage may be continued for up to 20 days to treat persistent or severe ear infections. If the symptoms of the infection persist after 20 days of treatment, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian. For maintenance, we suggest using it once per week.

Will I Have To Repeat This Treatment?

There is no need to repeat treatment after the 10-day recommended cycle, however some people prefer to treat once per week for “maintenance.” Although maintenance is not necessary, the ingredients used are all natural and gentle and will not harm your pet should you perform an extended course or maintenance.

For severe infections which have seen improvement but may still show some symptoms, an extended period of use of 20 days is recommended. If symptoms of the infection persist after 20 days of treatment, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.

How Long Until I See Results?

The vast majority of dogs see improvement within a day or two and have all of their ear infection symptoms cleared within 10 days. Typically dog ear infection symptoms will begin to improve in just a couple of days and you should see noticeable results within a week. It is extremely important that you continue treatment without interruption and finish the 10 days. Do not skip any days during the initial course of treatment unless advised by a veterinarian.

(NOTE: If the condition persists or worsens, please consult your veterinarian.)

Are There Any Negative Side Effects From This Treatment?

There are absolutely no side effects associated with use of EcoEars. If your pet acts ‘out of the ordinary’ discontinue use and see your veterinarian immediately. Note that after a treatment, many dogs will run around rubbing their ears on whatever they can find. Do not be alarmed, as this behavior usually goes away after several minutes.

Do I Need to Clean My Dogs Ear Prior To Each Use Of EcoEars?

There is no need to clean your dog’s ear prior, however dog ear infections can emit strong odors and fluids, and additional cleaning will not hurt the process. Many people perform extra cleanings to avoid unnecessary mess around the house.

Will EcoEars Work On All Types Of Infections?

To be clear, EcoEars is a natural ear cleaner, not a medicine. The all-natural ingredients in EcoEars are natural disinfectants which are designed to “dis-infect” your pet’s ears as opposed to “treating an ear infection.” We are contacted almost every single day by customers who tell us that their pet’s infection went away permanently after years of fighting these difficult symptoms arising from a wide variety of different types of ear infections including bacterial and fungal infections. However, because EcoEars is not listed as an FDA approved medication, no claims can be made regarding its effectiveness for treating dog ear infections.

Does EcoEars Work For Bacterial And/Or Fungal Infections?

Yes, EcoEars is effective against bacterial infections (often treated by antibiotics), as well as fungal infections (such as yeast infections) which do not respond to antibiotics.

Will EcoEars Interact With Other Medications?

EcoEars is all natural and won’t interact with any medications your dog may be taking. However, your dog should not use another ear product at the same time as EcoEars. If your dog is on an oral antibiotic for her ear infection, you should complete the current cycle according to your veterinarian’s instructions.

What Are The Ingredients?

EcoEars for Dogs is made with all-natural botanicals and naturally-derived ingredients: Denatured Grain Alcohol, Organic Mullein Leaf Extract, Witch Hazel Extract, Rosemary Extract, Ionic Silver Solution, Boric Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Tea Tree Oil, Polysorbate 20 (food grade), Fingerroot Extract

(Our EcoEars for Cats has similar ingredients, but it does NOT have any tea tree oil or fingerroot extract, so it is a gentler version that is safe for cats’ delicate ears and can also be used on very sensitive dog’s ears.)

What Is The Percentage Of Tea Tree Oil In EcoEars? I Understand It’s Tolerated In Dogs In Small Amounts.

The percentage of tea tree oil used in our formula is very small and is well within the recommended amount for safe and healthy use in dogs. We take pet health very seriously. Please contact us directly at info@vet-organics.com or by phone at 800-589-2335 if you have additional concerns about the ingredients in this or any of our other products.

I Am Scared To Use EcoEars Because There Is Tea Tree Oil In It. Is This Safe?

EcoEars is perfectly safe to use, Tea Tree oil is used but at VERY low concentrations which are known to be safe. (At high concentrations, Tea Tree oil can cause very severe irritation and other problems, but at low level concentrations, it is a great natural antimicrobial.) If you absolutely do not want to use any product with Tea Tree Oil, please consider EcoEars for Cats, which does not contain Tea Tree Oil.

Will The Alcohol Burn My Dog's Ears At All?

We consider alcohol to be an essential ingredient because it acts as a drying agent and helps to cut down “biofilm” in the ear. The alcohol we use is derived from Grain (never petroleum distillates). That said, any alcohol feels cold to the touch and though it does not sting, it may agitate your dog the first few times you use it.

Also, never use EcoEars if any blood is present in the ear unless directed by your vet.

My Dog Cried/Whined When I Applied EcoEars. Should I Continue Using It?

If you see blood or your dog has an open wound in the ear, EcoEars should not be used unless recommended by your veterinarian. However, if there is no blood or open wounds present, your dog may be reacting for one of two different reasons.

First, one of the ingredients in EcoEars is Alcohol. As you know, alcohol is cool to the touch. In many instances the pet is simply reacting to the coolness of the alcohol and is not in any pain. We feel that the benefits of Alcohol in EcoEars far outweigh the temporary discomfort the dog experiences due to the Alcohol.

Second, in many cases, the skin can be extremely irritated (from scratching) and when first applying EcoEars it can sting a little. This is common and it goes away a few minutes after the treatment ends; just like when you clean a child’s wound. The vast majority of our customers who experience whining and crying tell us that the redness and inflammation clears up significantly within a period of several hours to several days after the initial treatment and their dog no longer whines and cries with subsequent treatments.

If your dog whines or cries you can try adding EcoEars directly to a paper towel or cotton ball and swabbing the ear instead of pouring it into your dog’s ear(s). You can also start out once per day and move up to twice per day once the initial irritation goes away.

Every dog is different, however if your dog continues to cry beyond the first day or two, you should take her to the vet for an examination to ensure no serious medical conditions are present.

Is EcoEars Safe To Use If The Eardrum Is Ruptured?

We do NOT recommend using EcoEars on any pet with a ruptured eardrum unless directed by your veterinarian. Ruptured eardrums or any signs of blood are indications that need to be treated ASAP.

I See Dried Blood In The Outer Ear. Will EcoEars Help?

EcoEars will help with the underlying cause of the infection, however fresh or dry blood could indicate a ruptured eardrum. For this reason, you should first have your dog examined by a veterinarian prior to using EcoEars or any ear product.

Is EcoEars Safe If My Pet Licks It Off?

EcoEars is made with “denatured” alcohol which has been naturally altered to make it unpalatable to pets so that they are less likely to lick it. It’s okay if they lick a little off. It will not harm him, but we discourage it as it can give him an upset stomach. Always make sure your pet has access to fresh drinking water.

Is EcoEars Safe To Use On My Puppy?

EcoEars can safely be used on puppies aged 12 weeks and older. EcoEars has not been approved for puppies younger than 3 months of age. We recommend that you consult your veterinarian for treatment in very young puppies.

Can I Use EcoEars On A Pregnant Or Lactating Pet?

If your pet is pregnant or lactating, EcoEars should only be used under the supervision and instruction of your veterinarian.

I Purchased EcoEars For Cats By Mistake. Can I Use It On My Dog?

You may use EcoEars for Cat on your dog. For best results, we recommend using the dog version of EcoEars on your dog. EcoEars for Cats has mainly the same ingredients as EcoEars for Dogs EXCEPT for Tea Tree Oil, which means the Cat formula is slightly milder. It’s excellent for dogs with exceptionally sensitive ears.

Is EcoEars For Dogs Also Safe For Cats? Will It Work On My Cat’s Ear Infection Symptoms Also?

For cats with ear issues, please consider purchasing our product EcoEars for Cats. The cat version of this product does not contain Tea Tree Oil, which some cats may be sensitive to, even in the small amounts used in our dog product.

When Will My Product Expire?

All Vet Organics products go out the door with a minimum 18-24 months shelf life if kept in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. If you have any questions about the expiration, please don’t hesitate to contact our customer support team at info@vet-organics.com or by phone at 800-589-2335.

EcoEars for Cats
What Are The Ingredients?

EcoEars for Cats contains only natural and safe ingredients, including: Deionized Water, Denatured Grain Alcohol, Witch Hazel Extract, Calendula Flower (Marigold) Extract, Mullein Leaf Extract, Boric Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Ionic Silver Solution, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Allantoin, Polysorbate 20 (food grade).

Why Do You Use Denatured Alcohol In This Product?

Alcohol helps dry up the humid environment in the ear that causes pain, and helps to disinfect the ears. EcoEars uses denatured grain alcohol, which is a naturally-occurring substance and is safe for use on humans and animals. The denatured alcohol we use is derived from grains and is denatured with bitter substance that is not toxic at all but helps prevent cats, who enjoy self-grooming, from licking any residual EcoEars.

Does EcoEars Require A Prescription?

EcoEars is a natural ear cleaner, not a medicine – so it does not require a prescription. Our formula includes all-natural extracts selected for their antimicrobial and disinfecting properties which are designed to “dis-infect” your pet’s ears.

EcoEars has been effective in eliminating the symptoms caused by ear mites. We have posted many testimonials from satisfied customers who have used it successfully to treat their cat's ear mites issue. As with all Vet Organics products, we offer a 100% money back guarantee, so if you are not completely satisfied for any reason, just contact us for a refund.

Will EcoEars Work on All Types of Infections?

EcoEars is effective against bacterial (often prescribed antibiotics), fungal, and yeast infections (a type of fungal infection that usually does not respond to antibiotics) and the associated skin irritation caused by these infections, as well as irritation caused by ear mites. This is true whether your cat’s infection is caused by mites or another trigger. EcoEars is a natural ear cleaner, not a medicine.

Does EcoEars Also Work To Just Clean The Ears? My Cat’s Ears Have A Lot Of Wax, But No Infection.

Yes, EcoEars for Cats was formulated to naturally and safely clean your cat’s ears. You may safely use it as a part of well-cat grooming whether or not your cat’s ears are infected.

How Do I Keep My Cat From Shaking His Head When I Put In EcoEars?

Some people find it helpful to wrap their cat in a thick towel to have better control. Others may find treating him while in their lap or even placing him on a countertop works best. Typically, it’s easier to manage your cat with his back to you for better control.

You may find it helps to prepare a couple of cosmetic cotton pads (or cotton gauze) saturated with EcoEars to introduce the fluid this way alternatively to a pour. It also may be helpful to place a cotton pad into the ear opening after you put EcoEars inside the ear, so that if they shake their head, the liquid stays in their ears until you’re done massaging them. Some cat owners also have shared that they prefer to use an eye dropper to put EcoEars into their cat’s ears; however, please ensure you introduce a sufficient about of the solution to treat the whole ear.

Is EcoEars For Dogs Also Safe For Cats? Will It Work On My Cat’s Ear Infection Symptoms Also?

We do not recommend using EcoEars for Dogs on cats. For cats with ear issues, please consider purchasing our product EcoEars for Cats. The cat version of this product does not contain Tea Tree Oil, which some cats may be sensitive to, even in the small amounts used in our dog product.

EcoSpot
What Types of Skin Conditions Does EcoSpot Treat?

This skin-safe hot spot spray provides long-lasting relief for fungal, bacterial, yeast, and skin mite infections. EcoSpot clears most hot spots (red, raw, irritated skin) and is also effective against Demodex and Demodectic Mange.

When Applying EcoSpot, How Much Should I Use? How Long Will a 4-oz Bottle Last?

We recommend spraying EcoSpot at least twice per day (possibly more for sever infections) on the affected areas for as long as needed. It is a gentle formula and will not harm your pet with more frequent use. You should apply it generously so that the area is completely covered.

A 4-oz bottle should be enough to treat a 2x3 area for about 15 days. If the area is smaller - it will last longer, if it’s bigger - it will last less time. The idea is to saturate the skin and part the fur if necessary to treat.

Can I Spray EcoSpot On Hot Spots Through The Fur?

Yes, EcoSpot can be used through your pet’s fur, but we recommend parting the fur as much as possible so that you can saturate the skin where the infection and hot spots are located to maximize healing and relief.

Will EcoSpot Treat Skin Irritation Due To Allergies?

EcoSpot can be effective at providing soothing relief for all types of skin irritation and infection. However, if your pet’s skin infection or hot spots are from allergies, you may need to treat the allergies separately so that the symptoms don't come back.

Can I Use Both EcoMange & EcoSpot At The Same Time?

We normally do not recommend using both products at the same time. If you believe your pet is infected with mange, please visit our EcoMange page here. If you believe your pet has other skin issues (caused by yeast, demodex, mites, fungus, and bacteria) other than mange, please visit the EcoSpot product page.

Is EcoSpot Safe If My Pet Licks It Off?

EcoSpot is an all-natural, skin safe, non-toxic formula. Some licking will not harm your pet; however, we recommend to discourage excessive licking after the area has been treated with EcoSpot as it can interfere with treatment and could give them an upset stomach. Always make sure your pet has access to fresh drinking water.

When Will My Product Expire?

All Vet Organics products go out the door with a minimum 18-24 months shelf life if kept in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. EcoMange
How Many Treatments Are In An 8-oz Bottle of EcoMange?

Generally, one bottle is enough to provide a full treatment as recommended on our website. EcoMange is a natural spray formula which immediately cools the area, cleans the wound, and allows healing to begin. The amount of EcoMange you will use depends on the size of the animal and the size of the area(s) of the skin affected by the infestation. Since only the affected areas need to be saturated, one bottle should be enough to cover and treat a surface area of 8×11″ (or in other words, an area roughly the size of a standard sheet of paper).
For use, we recommend saturating the skin of the affected area(s). There is no preset amount to use; just saturate the skin and let it air dry. You would spray the affected areas every other day for one week and then just once per week until no longer needed.

Is EcoMange Also A Treatment To Kill Mites?

EcoMange a broadly targeted, natural anti-mange formula that resolves harmful mange mites and other secondary skin problems. Many of our customers have found it effective in helping them getting rid of the mite problem in their pets.

Why Should EcoMange Only Be Applied Every Other Day?

Why Is My Pet Scratching After Using EcoMange?

Mange can cause intense itching that may not immediately be resolved after beginning treatment. In general, itching and irritation will decrease after several days of using EcoMange. Mange is a condition caused by a tiny insect called a mange mite. There are two main types of mange mites - Demodectic and Sarcoptic. If you have confirmed that your pet has mange mites, EcoMange is a great product and it is likely to work. However, if you are not sure your pet’s scratching is caused by mites, we strongly urge you to consider our product EcoSpot or EcoImmune Formula. EcoSpot is effective on some types of mange, but it also works on many other types of skin issues and hot spots and EcoImmune helps to suppress immune system overreactions. Itching may also be caused by allergies, which may require separate treatment. If your pet has persistent itching and scratching after treating the recommended amount of time with EcoSpot or EcoMange, please consult your veterinarian.

Either way, all of our products are 100% guaranteed. If it doesn’t work, just let us know and we’ll issue a refund.

How Long Do The Supplements Take To Work?

The transition period for pets can take up to 4-6 weeks before significant results can be seen. It depends on your pet's overall health, how their immune system is working, how severe the condition is, as well as how long they’ve had this issue. It's important to give the supplement regularly as directed even if it may seem that it is not working as expected. Perhaps you may first notice slight improvement and then improvements will increase with time. Please note that they not a drug and so the changes come gradual as their body adjusts to the new way of reacting. Generally, within a few weeks (perhaps less), you should start to see results. Again, it all depends how your pet responds to the supplement.

Will My Pet Taste The Supplement In His Food?

It depends on your pet. Some pets will not eat it if they know something is in their food and some do. We've had experience with both, although most pets do eat it. Some pet parents also mix it with broth and others simply mix it with water and use a syringe to give to them directly into their mouth with a full stomach. They are formulated with flavor which is appealing for most pets.

Can I Use More Than One Supplement At A Time?

You may use the supplement in conjunction; however, we would advise you introduce them one at a time to see which product is working for your pet. We recommend beginning with the product you believe will help the most based on your pet's symptoms. From there, once you have been using it for at least four weeks, you may then start introducing another one and see how the pet responds and what the symptoms are like. If you still would like to introduce say a third product, wait until after an additional four weeks of starting the second product.

Is It Okay If There Are Multiple Pets Eating From The Same Dish – Some Do Not Need The Supplement?

It would not be harmful to the “healthy” pets as our ingredients are all natural; however, you may not see results if there is a pet that doesn't take in enough of the recommended amount.

My Pet Won’t Eat Their Food With The Supplement – Do You Have Any Suggestions?

First, you may want to start off with half a dose for about a week to introduce it and get your pet used to the taste. Try mixing it with their favorite food or treat. If that doesn't work, you can always mix it with water and either put it in a syringe or make it into a paste and put it directly into their mouth. Just make sure they have a full stomach.

To make the powder a liquid, simply add any desired liquid (water or broth) and make it as thick or thin as you would like. Mixing it with wet food works as well. For dogs, you can also try mixing it with a tablespoon of peanut butter and feed it to them.
